Results

The SENTISIMULAT project will generate algorithms for LC-LU classification that will be used as base for further development of operational Earth observation products and services in a number of sectors.

Earth’s land surface is significant to all societies, since this is where we live and from which we harvest many of the resources for live. Agriculture, forestry, industries, transport, housing and other services use land as a natural and economic resource. Land is also an integral part of ecosystems and indispensable for biodiversity and the carbon cycle.

Current and historic data about LC-LU is increasingly important for the planning and management of agricultural, forest, wetland, water and urban areas; nature, biodiversity and soil protection, and the prevention and mitigation of natural hazards and climate change
